Engine Changes Summary
1) “Wet” Suzuki intake manifold replaced with SAAB designed “dry” intake manifold featuring space saving “telescoped” velocity stacks, required sensors for computer control and top mount for a throttle body.
2) 52mm Throttle body with Throttle Position Sensor (same as Lotus & MG)
3) Idle Air Control system from SAAB 900 program
4) Low volume intercooler (same as Peugeot 206)
5) Pressure relief (Hooter) valve from SAAB 900 program
6) Distributor replaced by Hall Effect Crank Sensor &
7) Magnetic cam rpm sensor
8) Plug wires & Coil replaced by Coil-on-plug (GM/Chevrolet)
9) Bosch 4-wire O2 Sensor added to Exhaust downstream from Turbocharger

In addition, the Skunkworks team was able to create a very smooth idle at 870RPM using the advanced SAAB electronic engine control system (3 cylinder engines are notorious for rough idle inherent in the design).
